Update 2/10/2013: The St. Charles County Map Service has been upgraded to use ArcGIS Server 10.1 and to include a new look and some tools. Please check out the site at http://map.sccmo.org/Main/ to see these changes in action! I plan on publishing a new post with more details in the near future.

Much of my work with the St. Charles County Government focuses on the development and maintenance of web-mapping applications. Tasked to me shortly after arriving in St. Charles, I quickly learned to develop map services, manage web-mapping application code using configuration files (XML), enhance source code files (MXML, ActionScript), and administer GIS and web-application servers to provide an efficient means for the public to access mapping data. Shortly after the site’s launch, I gave several demonstrations showing the application’s capabilities for County employees, one of which was filmed as a training video and broadcast on local cable television.
More recently, I installed ArcGIS Server 10.1 for the County and am now redeveloping map services and preparing to launch a new version of the mapping website. This site, while still using Adobe Flex, will offer a few design and functionality enhancements that will make it easier to use, particularly for mobile devices. I also maintain internal applications that various County departments rely on as part of their day-to-day work.
